W&W WishList - 16 February 2018

So, Valentines is over and I hope you all were suitably loved?

The chocolates and flowers are all reduced and being shoved out of the way to make space for Easter and Mother’s Day! It’s never ending. One good thing about all this premature advertising is this little beauty that popped up on my Instagram feed. I confess that I hadn’t heard of this company before. They have so much gorgeous stuff and really well priced. These little stem vases are right up my street and if my kids don’t take the hint (i.e. the multiple links and photos I’m sending them) and gift them to me I’ll happily buy my own.

There has been much chatter and anticipation around the American crime story series ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace’. Edgar Ramirez stars as Versace himself, with Glee star Darren Criss as Cunanan; Ricky Martin plays Antonio D'Amico, who was Versace's boyfriend at the time, with Penélope Cruz as Donatella Versace. The series is not without controversy with the Versace family issuing a statement condemning it as a “work of fiction” and distancing themselves from both the series and the book by Maureen Orth ‘Vulgar Favors’ on which it is based. Already aired in the US and apparently well received it is due to hit BBC2 very soon.

One of my favourite day trips is to the Hepworth Wakefield Gallery, you can happily lose yourself for a good few hours wandering not just around the ever-changing exhibitions but as a space it really is beautiful. The Print Fair is well worth a look with over 50 handpicked printmakers showing in The Calder (the gorgeous converted mill space). With a street food market in the garden area and free printmaking activities what’s not to love? And if the weather is good and you have time try to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park which is only 30 minutes away and is as equally brilliant.

I’m recommending this product without even trying it. I have tried to get hold of it many times without luck. The demand and hype surrounding it is so great that, as the sales assistant from Superdrug told me “people are even trying to buy the well-used testers from the bare shelves.” So, what is the big deal? This humble £4 concealer is apparently a major dupe for the holy grail of concealers Tarte Shape Tape which comes in at around £22. Promising to match Shape Tape in coverage, finish and longevity and with some beauty experts proclaiming it to be even better I fear it maybe a while before I can get my hands on it.

When I think of packed lunches I am always reminded of the Sandwich Spread sandwiches and (if I was lucky) a mint Club biscuit from my school days. Well, times have changed and this idea from Sainsbury’s magazine has seriously upped the ante in every area. Super healthy, tasty and even pretty to look at it will induce serious lunch envy.

Spring is coming and nothing says it better than a pop of bright yellow in your wardrobe. Head to toe yellow maybe a little too scary for most but this bag from Zara will add a little zing whilst being pleasingly roomy enough to throw all your essentials in.

See you next week.

Hannah x
