W&W Wardrobe

W&W friend Jolene Lewis has two children and works in HR, she has an uncluttered simple style that always looks cool. She has even rocked a paper tiara at a party, we salute your style Jolene!

  1. What is your wardrobe?

It’s one third of an ugly 1970’s mahogany built in wardrobe that we painted white and took the handles off in a bid to try and make it look more modern.   The second part is full of my husband’s clothes and the last part is full of clutter but I could do with sorting it out and making more space really as my part is crammed to the max!

  1. How often do you shop?

It’s maybe once or twice a month and a bit of a mooch online every now and then but every Autumn I seem to have a real splurge!  I get a bit excited with the change of the season when all of the warmer clothes come out - I love to layer, so lately I’ve bought quite a few things that I really love. I like to invest in good winter coats and boots that I can wear year in, and year out.

  1. What’s your most treasured item?

I have a Topshop dress that I absolutely adore.  I bought it online about two years ago but I’ve worn it to death and would still wear it on every night out if I could.  It’s black and has red, white and green embroidered flowers stitched into it.  It reminds me of Meg White from the White Stripes.

  1. What’s the one piece you always buy every single season?

I hate to be a cliché but I am really into my Breton stripes.  I am drawn to them like a magnet and have to stop myself from buying more!  The perfect fitting - good quality Breton top is the ultimate goal for me.

  1. What’s the item you are guaranteed to wear at least once a week?

Definitely jeans unfortunately.  I buy skirts and dresses and tell myself I’ll wear them but when push comes to shove and it’s chilly outside it’s straight on with the jeans.  Usually plain black, skinny jeans from Gap or & Other Stories.

  1. Trousers or skirts?

I love skirts but I really feel the cold so nine times out of 10 you’ll find me in trousers.  I have some lovely dresses from Hobbs, Cos and Toast but I always have 100 denier tights on underneath them and a good pair of boots or some brightly coloured Nike trainers to mix it up a bit.

  1. Jumper or Jacket?

I’m a jumper girl every time.  I love a big baggy, thick jumper.  If I need to dress it up a bit I’ll put on a long necklace and some earrings to accessorise but it’s jumpers all the way!  I love a good logo jumper too to add a bit of fun.

  1. What’s your weekend style?

If the sun is out, I love a pair of gladiator style sandals with a skirt or cropped trousers a t-shirt but most of the time it’s jeans, jumper and trainers for me.  I like to dress comfortably as I have two young kids to run around after!  On a night out with my gal pals I usually go for a dress (with thick tights) and a nice petite shoulder bag like my leopard print one from Jones the Bootmaker which I love.

  1. How has your style changed over the years?

I was a real hippy when I was in my teens.  It was all tie dye and Doc Marten boots.  I even had hair extensions in plaits at one point (eek!).  For as long as I can remember I’ve loved a good striped/nautical top.  I’ve always loved culottes though, even at primary school I wore them as part of my school uniform so culottes being in all the shops at the moment is heaven for me.

     10.Whose wardrobe do you covet?

At the moment, I really like ‘The Frugality’ (Alex Steadman).  I follow her on Instagram and read her blog.  She’s really down to earth with a Scandi style vibe and she shops a mixture of high street and designer.  Other than that, I am inspired by real women that I see every day on the street or friends of mine who always look stylish.
