Suspicion and Superstition
Like a lot of people, I have a never ending pile of books next to my bed waiting to be read, as its generally what I ask for as gifts. 'The Ruin of All Witches' is one I've seen a few friends mention and I've been excited to start it, so far it isn't disappointing me! We go back in time to a remote plantation in Springfield Massachusetts in the 1660s and the devastating impact of witch trials. Based on a true story, the focus of attention is on Hugh and Mary Parsons, a bricklayer and his wife, who, unhappy in their domestic sphere and bereaved of their children are not able to control the misery they feel and start spreading it around the town. They become the scapegoats for everything that is wrong in the town and soon they are arrested as witches.
Taking to the Stage
Talking of great books - my absolute favourite book of all time 'A Little Life' is taking to the stage in London and I couldn't be more excited about the fact that I've managed to secure tickets to go with a friend. Starring Happy Valley star James Norton as the beautifully written main character Jude - here's hoping it does so well that they tour it so you can all see it...🤞🏽
Wonderful Tragicomedy
If you haven't seen 'The Banshees of Inisherin' then I wholly recommend it. We watched it over Christmas and just loved it.
It's a beautifully written screenplay centred around the lifelong friendship between two men on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland. (A bit of film trivia for you - all of the main characters' sweaters were made by the same elderly man, who knitted them by hand specifically for the film. He also knitted doubles for each sweater. He was not present on set, and did not meet the actors prior to creating the pieces for them).

Perhaps its time to broaden our horizons on the colour front? Saffron Red is one fashion colour trend which seems to be dominating 2023 so far and we're already on it here at W&W HQ.

Lip Love
Talking of shades of red, I have FINALLY found my perfect lip shade in Violette FR's Bisou Balm. Its a lipstick meets balm hybrid which glides on. You can do a subtle daytime lip or up the ante and layer it on for a more night time vibe, just perfect!
